Advancing Encouragement By:

Hebrews 2:18: For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.
What is an aide? What is a reliever? In baseball when a starting pitcher gets in trouble with the opposing team defeating his pitches a reliever is sent into the game not only to aide him but to turn the game around to defeat the opposing team so he relieves him from the pressure of the game and takes his place. This is called to succor in the time of need. Jesus Christ succors us from being over taken by sin, trials, tribulations and struggles. You can use a reliever in the game of baseball as an analogy to get the picture or idea. Jesus Christ aides us meaning He runs to our rescue to help us by relieving us from the power and the control of sin over our lives. Have you ever seen the relief pitcher come walking out of the bullpen or does he normally run out of the bullpen? He runs out of the bullpen why, for the sense of urgency that is what Jesus does on our behave He runs to our rescue. This idea about succor comes from two words in the Greek in this context they are, boetheo and boethos which mean to aid or relieve:--help, succor (to run) as a helper. How is Jesus able to possibly know how to take on our pressures of life, the pressures that can lead us to sin and know how to eradicate them? The answer is in verse 17 of Hebrews 2, He became like us that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. He knows what we go through, He suffered being tempted in every way like us (Hebrews 4:15) so that He will know how to succor us all the way to the cross where He endured the ultimate suffering unlike any human being on the face of the earth. Therefore, Jesus Christ is qualified to aide us, help us and to relieve us from our struggles in life so trust Him and know you will have the help in the time of need, Hebrews 4:16. You don’t have to struggle any longer, call on Jesus Christ and He will succor you and eradicate your struggles in Jesus Name…
